Acute colonic pseudo-obstruction caused by mycophenolate mofetil in a kidney transplant recipient.

چکیده
Mycophenolate mofetil is a component of immunosuppressive regimens in solid-organ transplant recipients. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea without fever are common in patients treated with mycophenolate mofetil. We treated a patient who had acute colonic pseudo-obstruction after kidney transplant that resolved after discontinuing mycophenolate mofetil. The disorder recurred soon after resuming mycophenolate mofetil, which is evidence for an association between mycophenolate mofetil and acute colonic pseudo-obstruction in this patient.

Mycophenolate mofetil toxicity mimicking acute cellular rejection in a small intestinal transplant
Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) is an important medication used for maintenance immunosuppression in solid organ transplants. A common gastrointestinal (GI) side effect of MMF is enterocolitis, which has been associated with multiple histological features. There is little data in the literature describing the histological effects of MMF in small intestinal transplant (SIT) recipients. We present a ...

Gastrointestinal adverse effects are common with mycophenolate mofetil administration, especially diarrhea. We report a case of mycophenolate mofetil-related colitis in a kidney transplant recipient. Colonoscopy revealed an ulcerative diffuse colitis. The colonoscopic biopsy specimen showed mild crypt distortion, accompanied by cryptitis and focal graft-versus-host disease like changes. The pa...

Sirolimus tolerability in a kidney transplant recipient with acute intermittent porphyria.
Sir, Acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) is transmitted as autosomal dominant disorder with incomplete penetrance. It results from a deficiency of the porphobilinogen deaminase enzyme of haeme biosynthesis. Clinical manifestations of acute attacks include abdominal pain, hypertension and neuro-psychiatric dysfunction, and are often triggered by exposure to exogenous precipitating factors, such a...
